Your frontends are likely newer than mine? (0.25 for me).
Lirc 0.9.0

I reverted QT back to 4.7, did nothing else, and it's all working again.

Anything thing I did notice when it was broken: I tried to use the
mythweb interface, and sending up/down keys via the web interface also
took a long time for them to be registered.
Yet, doing it via a real plugged in keyboard was instant, and doing it
over vnc was also instant.

It was the weirdest bug. I'm running something quite old, so I'm not
exactly expecting support, but figured posting the solution might
somehow help someone else who googles this later :)

I suppose I should upgrade one day, but every time I've done upgrades
(been using mythtv since 2005), it's typically taken me a day or two to
recover and reset all things that got changed/broken, not counting the
fact that upgrading ubuntu would be a huge mess if it worked at all, so
likely it'd be a full re-install which is even more work.

Are there any killer features between 0.25 and 0.28 that would make it
worth it for me to upgrade? I mostly record HDTV via an HDHR3 and cable
card. Mythtv 0.25 has worked well enough for me so far.

Thanks,
Marc
