Computer controlled switches are available, though.  Many years ago I
had some switches from X10 that I could control via an RS232 dongle.
It wouldn't turn off your devices in the event of an uncontrolled
shutdown of your server, but it would allow you to send a power-on on
start up and a power-off on a normal shutdown.
