It's the default for MythTV.  While we should be able to make Auto the 
default, and let it detect whether OpenGL will work, there are too many 
broken video cards, video drivers, and window managers/compositors  that 
lie and say OpenGL will work when it won't.  Therefore, the only paint 
engine option that is guaranteed to work properly is Qt, so that's the 
default.

That said, every single user with a working system should change the 
setting to Auto.
