Remember, in Comcast terms, eventually may not mean the same
as you might wish it to mean.  It ain't over till it's over.

(There is some conjecture that Atlanta was chosen to expedite
the ability to be able to respond to a future competitive offering.)

To be fair, the transcoding CableCARD model was shown at
CES 2013 (with an expected ship date mid-2013), so only
2 years.  I know, that can seem like forever in Internet years
(especially when you wanted it yesterday).  However I think
almost everyone agrees that the marketing got way ahead
of themselves.

There have been many conjectures about the various reasons
the transcoding CableCARD model has never been released.
Some make sense, some less so.  But the business reasons
were never stated.
