With the exception of FIOS (which controls access via their ONT,
getting the same claimed benefits without needing to encrypt),
pretty much all the top cable companies either have, are in the
process of, or have announced plans to, encrypt basic.  The
specific DRM protections applied to the channels (and therefore,
how "MythTV friendly" the cable company is) will vary.
