Yes, you'll need two devices if you want to record both cable (using
CableCard) and OTA (ATSC). SiliconDust does make well-regarded devices for
both signal types, but not simultaneously in the same device. The devices
which can record broadcast TV (HDHR4-2US or HDTC-2US) can also tune clear
(unencrypted) QAM on cable, but that is increasingly rare and even if you
have it now you shouldn't count on its continued availability.
