My laptop's HDMI port sends video via an HDMI cable through an HDMI-to-DVI 
adapter into the monitor just fine. So it looks like I could go with a 
board or video card that has HDMI but not DVI--the only possible problem 
being the sound. I discarded the speakers that were attached to this 
monitor and, in any case, would rather have sound coming through a 
computer speaker system I currently have hooked to my Myth box's sound 
card. I assume I'd be able to select the system's sound card as the output 
device, even if I were to use an HDMI port to send the video signal, would 
I not?
