I finally decided to take a risk, and ordered a HD-PVR2. Like you, I had
to change kMyProductID (in my case from 0xE524 to 0xE505). Unfortunately,
for me it does not work -- it fails to successfully write the firmware:
000006.048945 HCW_BinaryVerify - Comparing 4063232 bytes...
000006.050931 offset 4062720 (0x003dfe00), file: 0xff, mem: 0xe9
000006.050936 HCW_BinaryVerify - Compare complete
000006.051303 IF.binaryDownload fail!!!
I tried disabling that check, assuming that maybe the firmware was shorter
than expected, but it still fails to work. I will tinker with it some more
this weekend, but at the moment I am rather disappointed.
