Partially answering my own questions:

I was able to grab a temporary file during the mfdb run.  For this run, 
mfdb logged:

     Actual data from Fri Oct 24 15:56:10 2014 to Sat Nov 8 15:56:10 
2014 (UTC)

However, the greatest value for the 'time=' field on any <schedule> line 
in the SD XML file is:

     2014-11-06T23:58:00Z

So, it appears that I am not getting data for Nov 7 or 8 from SD, 
contrary to what the 'Actual data' log line and the <xtvd> line in the 
XML show:
