Thanks, Bob.  Using zvbi2raw is the key for my situation.  I found some
channels that ccextractor works on but some it did not.  All the channels
work on my TV and I found they also work with zvbi-ntsc-cc.  I guess there
are two types of captions being produced by my cable box.  Fortunately
zvbi2raw works on both.

I still need to work on getting the timing right though.  There are several
things working against me.  First my channel change script sleeps for 4
seconds so right off I have at least 4 seconds of captions more that I
need.  And second ccextractor (at least the version I have) doesn't seem
happy with negative delays and comes up with some really strange times in
the .srt file.

I think I may try to start the vbi recording from a rec started writing
event instead of a rec started event.  That may get me closer to what I
need, and then ccextractor might add my delay better (or I'll use a perl
script).
