I have Mythfrontend and XBMC installed on my frontend PC, and I am
currently using both to watch videos, live and recorded TV as a
comparison exercise. I am not talking about Mythbackend, which XMBC
does not replace.

Currently, for me, XMBC is an entirely plausible alternative to Mythfrontend.
