It's certainly a good idea to check this, but if that were the
problem, re-running ntpdate would not have re-synchronized the clock.

It's also good to have the frontend(s) and backend(s) all use the same
exact zone.  Don't configure one to use America/New York and other to
use US/Eastern, for example.
