Why would it be?
Convergence doesn't happen immediately in any field of technology.
Indeed, it's been incremental in every case I can think of.
In this case, convergence is being thwarted by codified law that was
promulgated by industries interested in protecting their rights over
their intellectual property, even if it's not conducive to the
customer's enjoyment of that property.
History has shown repeatedly, such obstacles are eventually overcome.
But, that requires hard work, diligence and time.
