Agreed you should be able, I’ve tried this and it worked… on one file pair, I have a 57.5GB Hobbit file but none of the LotR movies I have match well enough for mkvmerge to accept them. I tried catting a couple of m2ts files but all the players I tried fell over badly on the join. I’m not interested in re-encoding to solve the problem, unless the resulting file is three or four times bigger the resulting quality is greatly degraded.

I tried it again yesterday with pt1 & pt2 of The Colour of Magic and same story, seems even though they were recorded from the same HD channel they didn’t have the same parameters (enough) to mux together, surprised by that one.
