Ah, but if a given machine were a dedicated MythTV FE or BE, surely none
of these other dependencies on pre-QT-4.8 would be installed anyway.

Yeah. I guess it would take somebody to build a stack of whatever is
missing in EL6 and publish that as a repo purely focused on building
MythTV-only EL6 machines.

Indeed. As you say, can be done, but one has to weigh the ROI when
Mythbuntu already exists, despite one's (lack of) desire for Ubuntu.
