And for real fun(*), I'll bet you could build a device (perhaps something
based on one of the cheap FTDI chips) that emulated the USB120IR
(probably have to fake the device id), and connects directly to your
computer.  Some EE skills would be required :-)

(*) The fun would be in the building of the device.  A little reverse
engineering to see what the USB120IR emulated (a HID?), and
then emulating it
