YES!

There is no firewall nor SELinux, but http_proxy was set.

Hmmm ... now I'm getting 

E  Player(1): Couldn't find an A/V decoder for:
 'myth://192.168.2.6:6543/1060_20130929171451.mpg'

Must double-check my USE flags methinks ...
