My MythTV Back End with Ubuntu 11.04 (32 bit desktop) was
working well. I pulled out the system drive and put in a fresh
drive and built Ubuntu 12.04, then installed MythTV 0.25. I
could only see half of my tuners on my two Hauppauge HVR-2250
tuner cards. I pressed ahead and put a copy of my database into
the new install. It didn't like that. I put the old system
drive back in and continued to Google for information.

Months pass. This time I'm desperate to upgrade the Ubuntu and
MythTV. I make a copy of my database. I take a big breath and
tell Ubuntu to upgrade itself from 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10 (the
recommended path). After the upgrade, I start MythTV, and it
works! It has all the tuners and I can watch my old recordings.

Well, I should know better, but I tell Ubuntu to upgrade to
12.04 (a currently supported version). After the Ubuntu
upgrade, I start the MythTV Front End on my Back End, and it
works! Still has all the tuners. I can watch my old
recordings. It has upgraded the MythTV Back End to 0.25.2 and
successfully done the conversion on my old database. I was
expecting to spend days trying to recover information from my
old database. The upgrades worked! No heroics required. Now I
can watch my MythTV Back End on my iPad and LG TV.

Thanks so much to the developers and support folks who make this
possible! I love my MythTV and really appreciate your
contributions!

Mike
