I believe the Google Play Store allows different versions of the app to 
be sent to different devices, depending on the device OS version. So you 
could just have one Google Play Store entry that would send a 
2.x-compatible app to 2.x devices, or a 4.x-compatible app to 4.x devices.

As a 2.x user, I would personally be sad to see the current version 
become unmaintained, but I understand that developer resources are 
limited and that you may have to concentrate on 4.x.
