Fair enough I should really particularly as I am sort of doing the same
thing that winds me up about the new IT Admin and just dumping a system I
don't understand for one I do.

I really don't like LV. I know it is probably old fashioned but I like
to be the one to decide onto which drive the data I am creating is going.
Also I really do prefer to have my systems set up with an OS/Apps drive
and a storage drive.

I know most of these probably are not MythDora issues but see later for
why I mention them.

From the outset sound hasn't worked on the FE despite trying various
things suggested in the wiki (Pulse audio etc...). Luckily because no one
except me uses the FE and then I only use it in an admin role not a watching
anything role it doesn't actually matter that there is no sound.

DVD creation is unreliable to the point where I have taken to getting
Myth to create an iso and then burning the iso using third party SW

When creating DVDs (something we need to do occasionally) the file
sizes reported for recordings are usually stupid e.g. 578934567TB
This doesn't seem to prevent it from creating the DVD but is just
another annoyance as the bar showing how much space will be used is
effectively unusable.

Commands to the terminal that should work just don't seem to including
ones suggested from this list to solve a stupid problem I caused by
managing to PW protect the All Recordings group.

Why am I not trying to learn how to fix these problems?

Because when I came to set up my Myth system at home I had discovered
the LV issue and so opted for MythBuntu instead and these issues just
don't show on my system which from a HW point of view is identical. Well
excluding HD sizes but I'm not sure that would cause any of the above.

This is the other reason that I was looking to update to a newer version
of Myth than .24 and decided that it made sense to move to an active distro
if I could.

Cheers,

John.
