Hrm.  That seems just too "organized".  :-)  But seriously... watching
TV is not something that anyone wants to spend, or rather, waste any
time planning.

The typical process here is to get an hour or two, sit down with others
and view the list of what's recorded (500 episodes it seems at the
moment) and decided at that time what to watch.  Even alone, it's
frequently a case of "what do I feel like watching, at this moment" and
trying to guess a day or two in advance what I might want to watch is
pointless.

Right.  See above.  Watching TV, once you have gotten used to having a
PVR, just doesn't work that way.

So would just not transcoding where it's not necessary because there is
plenty-enough bandwidth to just watch the native stream.  :-)
