I don't think a remote frontend can access a physical drive on a
backend, certainly not without some weird voodoo that isn't going to
happen by accident. By that, I mean when you select 'Play a DVD or
Blu-ray' from the menu. You could presumably point a storage group on a
backend to a mounted DVD but it would appear along with other
videos/images rather than playing directly from the menu.

In his position, I would probably say the same thing :) I don't mean
that he's trying to get out of anything, just that it doesn't seem to
make much sense. Particularly that it apparently *only* affects
playback of DVDs, even physical DVDs on the local machine.
