Thank you so much for your help - ran the optimize script, worked like a
charm - lots of things got cleaned up and now mythweb can open the
database tab in less than a second.  I will make it a cron job weekly. 
Mythbuntu has a check mark in the mcc to add it to cron.weekly, but I
would prefer to have a little more control on the time of day it
actually runs.
