I don't have Freesat, but I do have two SD tuners and one HD tuner for
freeview, which I imagine may present an analagous situation - that I want
programmes that have an HD broadcast to be recorded in HD, but I don't want
the HD tuner tied up recording SD channels.

My solution:

- All of the tuners have all of the channels that they can see available to
them (so the HD tuner has the SD channels available as well as the HD
ones). This provides maximum flexibility.

- In backend setup, where one assigns the order that tuners will be used
in, the two SD tuners are first and the HD tuner is the last to be used.
This means that SD programmes will only be recorded by the HD tuner if both
SD tuners are unavailable (ie if it is trying to record from 3 multiplexes
at once)

- I have HD programmes set to get an automatic priority boost of just a
couple of points. Meanwhile, when I assign priorities to programmes (stuff
I really want to watch or don't care much about), I tend to give them +30
or so. This means that the HD or SD choice won't normally have an affect on
*what* is recorded, but it will cause Myth to prefer an HD over an SD
broadcast of the same programme.
For a while, ITV1 HD wasn't marking things as HD in the programme guide, so
I gave that channel a similar small priority boost.

It works for me (except when the SD recordings fail repeatedly) - I hope
it's sufficiently relevant to your situation to be of use!
