Alright, so after spending way too much time last night digging into this,
I discovered I did actually have ABC in the channel lineup twice, on
channels 7 and 35, and some of the ABC recording schedules were set to
record from the channel 35 entry. That perfectly explains the problems I
was having.
I also discovered  that KTVU/Fox is on both channels 44 and 48, so I should
probably look into which one of those I should be using.
