Yup, tried those.  Newer, older, experimental.  All behave the same.

They are only distributing LTS ISOs.  However, nothing prevents somebody
from taking a 12.04 Mythbuntu and updating it to 12.10.


One thing that I've not completely eliminated is that the nvidia driver
issue could be related to an "Atom PSE erratum" message that I saw on
startup.   I haven't tried installing a microcode update to see if that
affects the stability, though.

But either way, I've already restored from my working backup, which is
nvidia driver 260.19.29 on 2.6.35-24-generic.   And if it is
PSE-related, then either the nvidia driver or kernel or combination
doesn't trigger the bug.  The system I'm running now apparently isn't
aware of the bug, as it's not listed in dmesg.
