I believe I have ticket #9704 with a recent 24.2 git +
mythtv-0.24-backport_reconnect_fixes.patch (and previous git revs)
however the ticket is locked at the moment. I am not sure if the
locking of the ticket means that this problem is supposed to be fixed
or that it means discuss it on the mailing list or possibly just
upgrade to the 25 development release and your problems will go away.
I have posted to the list for help with this two Sundays in a row but
I have not received a single reply. I am not sure if that means my
emails are nonsense / too long not enough details or what. It's
extremely frustrating to me being that on other email lists that I
subscribe to I voluntary answer at minimum 50 emails per week every
single week for many years. Anyways can some one please help. Mythtv
does not work reliably at all at the moment and the WAF is almost to
the point that I will have to subscribe to the cable PVR service.. Did
I mention I despise my cable company.

I have a few questions.

1. How do I debug this so that someone possibly can give me advice?
For the day job I actually write thousands of lines of Qt code per
week. I work 80+ hours per week every week so yes that is possible.
However I do that on windows using Visual Studio and cmake to generate
the projects. Although I have ported some of my applications (medical
imaging research) to linux at times I am not very familiar with linux
debugging tools. I do not even know how to generate stack traces that
are in the bug report..

2. Is it better to just move to 25.x development? Is that reasonably
stable now? Does mytharchive still work reliably (using projectX) to
produce dvds of my hauppage pvr 150/250/500 recordings playable in a
standalone dvd player? BTW I am running under gentoo (not easily
changed since the master mythtv box is used for other essential tasks
than myth) so I build every thing from source.
