[mythtv-users] wiiu and mythweb/remote

I was using a DNS entry on my router, but I checked again and I get
consistent behavior with the direct IP address as well. I do know if I
click the frontend name twice, it will deselect and give the popup.

I'm not talking about the direct streaming from MythWeb (mine are also MPEG
2), but the HTTP Live Streaming <http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/HLS> feature
exposed from the backend's built in web server on port 6544, which
ultimately results in H.264 streams. It's still experimental, so it's
pretty well hidden. The JW Player listed on the wiki page works for all
Flash-enabled devices, but obviously doesn't for the Wii U. Instead, once
you get a stream transcoding a little ways, click on the 'm3u8' link. This
launches the same video player that Nintendo is using for their videos, so
you're able to throw it back and forth between the TV and the touchpad and
pause and seek (at this point only if it's fully encoded the entire video
already). I was able to go up to 1024x576 at 2500K quality. There's a bit of
blockiness on motion for me on the transcoding at this point, but it's
watchable.

I'll probably also give MythExpress a shot with this device at some point
as a better way to access the live streams. The Wii U certainly has some
promise as a frontend once HLS support comes further along.
