I've been running myth on a box built for my sister since... 0.18, I think?

There have been times that it's run like a top.

And there have been times that -- on the same hardware -- it's been so
recalcitrant that it's kept me up til 4am, and made me want to throw it
out in the middle of US19 in Perry.

And I've been doing Linux for almost 20 years, and Unix for 30.

No, it's *not* always our fault.  MythTV is *very* powerful, very 
complicated, and not always nearly as rugged as I would like for it to 
be.  But since there's no reasonable way to back out an upgrade, what
can you do, when you "upgrade it", and it goes in the toilet?
