Specifically, Apple likes to use the CAVLC compressor.  When H264 is
compressed, the video is further sent through a lossless compression
algorithm (think zip/gzip/bzip).  The much more common compressor is CABAC,
which is around 25% more space efficient, and uses 35% more power for a
given bitrate to decompress.
