I did something similar a while back.

I did my upgrade by shutting down mythbackend, doing a mysqldump of the
mythconverg database, then shutting down and transplanting the old discs
into the new machine. Once there, I copied the recordings, music, ROMs onto
the equivalent filesystems on the new discs, restored the database from the
mysqldump file and installed the latest version of MythTV. A few automatic
schema updates later, and all was well. YMMV.
