Just to be clear - there is no 0.25. There is the master branch which
is under development (and will eventually become 0.25) but it still
has a long way to go before it becomes a release.

This may seem pedantic but you've posted this on the users list (as
opposed to the development list) and suggesting that there is a 0.25
release is potentially confusing for old and new users alike and
ignores the development status of the master branch; it has known
regressions and outstanding bugs.

Tearing is fundamentally an issue with the video drivers (and their
configuration) and google suggests that there are still many issues
with the fglrx driver in that respect. You can try the attached patch
to see if it helps with OpenGL playback (n.b. you need to be running
the OpenGL UI renderer as well, which should be the default in
master). If you still have tearing with that applied, the problem
definitely resides with your driver and its setup.

With respect to the XVideo colour changes, can you post the output of
mythfrontend -v playback --loglevel=debug

I'm assuming that your video stream changes for commercials.
