You forget. This project is done by volunteers and the only stuff that
gets worked on is the stuff people volunteer to do. There is no
company backing the project nor any money at all. We are concerned
with good design but, as you pointed out, users and developers see
things differently and given this is just a hobby for everyone
involved, things sometimes slip though the cracks.

You are the cold user it's being tested on. Welcome to the testing.

And welcome to a free, open source program. We give you the thousands
and thousands of hours of our work for free and you have to understand
that while we try our hardest to make the best product we can, at
times it's not perfect. Remember, you get what you pay for and in this
case, you're getting it for free.

Mythtv-setup should have actually informed you that the path was
unreadable when you tried to exit the setup, are you sure it didn't?
By chance did you just skip that dialog without reading it?
