So I just upgraded the motherboard in my combo front/backend and of
course, it doesn't have a serial port and I was using a RS232 IR
receiver (been using this setup for YEARS) in combination with a
RadioShack remote.
I have a USB-serial adapter (Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial
Port) which is recognized by the system (Fedora 13), but I am having
problems figuring out how to get lircd to talk to /dev/ttyUSB0.
Looks like I was using lirc_serial kernel module which was providing
/dev/lirc0 which lircd was using.
Is there any way to get lirc_serial to talk to /dev/ttyUSB0? I feel
like I'm missing something here...
Failing that - what's the cheapest way to get to get my remote working
again? Looks like I could get a serial-header as my mobo does have a
plug for serial on it...
