How do you pick up new content without doing a scan?

It just wasn't mounted.  On that one frontend I hadn't gotten around
to even configuring the mount.  It was a PEBKAC NFS problem...

Normally I do all of this stuff from my FE/BE system, but it was in
use at the time, so I used one of my lesser frontends instead.

Yes, I know that, but I haven't gotten around to that migration yet.
When I first set up the backend there wasn't even a concept of storage
groups.  NFS works for the most part, and I still have much higher
priority problems that need fixing that I just hadn't looked at it
yet.

Still, it seems that some guardrails could be helpful here.
