[mythtv-users] YASP - Yet Another SPDIF Problem

At least its a bit more esoteric this time!!

I've been setting up a new Zotac IONITX board as a frontend and its all
working apart from one condition of audio.

DVB-S SD recording plays the MP3 stereo track OK through SPDIF OK
PVR-150 SD recording plays the MP2 stereo track OK as well
So does the MP3 track of an AVI file
and MythMusic.

Try a DVD iso image which has both PCM_S16BE and AC3 5.1 tracks on it
(according to the codecs that the Internal player is choosing) and the
latter works great in passthrough but the stereo track is just very loud
white noise.

I have the following .asoundrc file

pcm.hda-intel {
    type hw
    card 0
}

ctl.hda-intel {
    type hw
    card 0
}

pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "spdif"
    slave.rate 48000
}

and I have ALSA:Default defined as the primary sound output with
ALSA:iec958:{ AES0 0x02 } as the passthrough device and default for the
mixer.

Anybody any clues on how to fix this or force 0.21-fixes to always use a
5.1 track if it exists on a DVD or iso image.
