Absolutely nothing to do with volume control for passthru audio

Sorry, but what you're writing makes absolutely no sense.

So first you say it's working with ALSA:spdif

Then you say none of them work. So how can ALSA:spdif not working if
it's working :P

And that with your other message:
>Output Device:ALSA:default
>Passthrough:disabled
>Mixer:ALSA:default
>Mixer Controls"PCM

So which one is it?

You comment on something, then post another config.. Take a pick.
You're all over the place here.

Passthrough isn't going to work when you use ALSA:default for your
output device as you're going through ALSA. That's what you're hearing
static. What you're hearing is the digital stream through an analog
mixer.

Set for your device output:
ALSA:spdif
for passthrough device: Default (so it uses ALSA:spdif)

If you want volume control to work with digital sound and passthrough,
then you *must* use the new software sound mixer included in mythtv.
That is , enable the mythtv volume control in Setup -> General Sound
And for the mixer use "software".

You can not use the usual volume control with digital sound.. You will
have to use your external amplifier for that unless you use the new
software mixer provided by that patch
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/6279 that I included in the mythtv
binary package.
