> tune to each channel and see which station it was, That's the part I'm
whining about. ;) I have approx 90 digital stations found during scans,
most of which are "UNKNOWN" or incorrect call letters/name. I just can't
see myself sitting at the tv waiting for a spot in the program that tells me
the channel name for each one of those channels. Especially when
a) comcast is likely to change those at any time in particular after analog
>34 is cut and
b) some of the channels are so bad that they case my FE to crash. I suppose
those I'll just delete those from my lineup...

Some channels have the icons in the corner making them easier to identify
but not all so I could have to watch a station for >5min just to find out
what it's called. grrr

It kills me that this info exists but tribune & the cableco's are keeping it
from us:

"2. I don't believe there are any rules requiring transmission in clear QAM.
The cable companies have asked Tribune to not pass on QAM info, that's why
it's not available. "

> then look up the XMLTV id for that station on Schedules Direct
That part I'm clear on once I know the real name of the station.

@ dlou99:
I tried your program but got discouraged when I found 10 different VCT_ID's.
Maybe I missed it in that other thread but how do you choose which one is
correct other than tuning each channel to confirm?

FYI I have:
VCT_ID 3062 (0x0bf6) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3061 (0x0bf5) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3057 (0x0bf1) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3018 (0x0bca) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3059 (0x0bf3) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3023 (0x0bcf) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3055 (0x0bef) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3020 (0x0bcc) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 3058 (0x0bf2) at 525000000hz, version 4
VCT_ID 0 (0x0000) at 525000000hz, version 4

thanks,
Matt
