I think your aerial question has now been answered!
By way of contrast, in NZ Freeview (yes they cribbed the name from the
similarly named UK service) broadcasts more or less identical
programming FTA over both DVB-S and DVB-T.
The DVB-S is SD/mpeg2, the DVB-T is HD/h.264 on some channels and
SD/h.264 on others.
To complicate things Sky is transmitting some HD over DVB-S (S2 I
think), I don't know whether its h.264 or mpeg2 but its probably all
encrypted anyway.
