If I get around to buying a VDPAU capable card I'll be taking that
approach, as I'm already running both my frontend and backend with
patched ebuilds of rev 20500 already. I've always found that very
easy to do. Speaking of which, if anyone knows of a fanless low
profile PCI-e card capable of Advanced 2x de-interlacing, let me know.

I was surprised to see that recent ebuilds in portage no longer pull
from SVN but rather download a tarball from the mirrors. That means
you can no longer rename them to pull in newer revs. The ebuilds I'm
using were copies of older ebuilds that used SVN. I don't know why
they made that change. I think people were griping that emerging was
sometimes failing to pull in from SVN...something that never happened
to me in countless installs.
