Nope!
What I have works, but I am trying to make it better. *
> It seems about 50% of the time my audio is out sync, sometimes by as
much as 2 or 3 seconds! I've used mytharchive (mtd), regular
transcoding to .nuv, and most recently, I installed mythbuntu 9.04 and
tried mythexport (ffmpeg) and my first attempt was about 2 seconds out
of sync (audio vs video).
I had the same problems. When I was transcoding into nuv files I was
having all kinds of problems with audio going out of sync (no more then
a second; usually just enough to be noticeable but not annoying) and the
worse was the interlacing issues that would appear after the transcode.
No idea what was going on and after a few weeks of digging through the
wiki/mailing list I finally found someone who said to try to do the
lossless transcode. So I did and the majority of the problems I had went
away.
Of course doing the lossless transcode means that instead of a 1.1GB
file per half hour I get a ~650-700MB file, but no more audio problems
for me. As for the shows I really want to keep, burning to dvd works
rather well with the mpg files and if I just want to compress the show
then I use handbrake. Handbrake also solved the few issues I had with
noise/interlacing that are /not/ MythTV's fault but the quality of the
source. No problems at all so far with this method.
* I run Mythbuntu 8.04. What I mean by "trying to make it better" is
that the above method works really well when I do it by hand, but fails
if I try to have it done automatically after the show ends. Commercial
skip works perfect when I am watching a show, but everything I have done
to get it to transcode and cut the commercials automatically fails. I
have to flag the commercials manually (press 'e' while watching and
enter to set points), then manually run the transcode, manually run
handbrake, ect. Since I have a method that works, and I don't save too
much it doesn't bother me a lot. I work on it when I get the chance. :-)
Hope that helps!
