[mythtv-users] Am I the only one with transcoding problems?

That's interesting, because I regularly transcode all the stuff I record --
to actually remove advert breaks and make the file smaller.  And I archive
to DVD.  By my experiences are different yet again.

I do get errors on certain programs & channels, but transcoding in a lossy
fashion (my "high" transcode has the non-lossy toggle set) seems to sort
matters.

I frequently (one time in 20?) find that after transcoding I've lost the
seektable data.  Now I know how to fix that -- *always* specify the full
pathname on the command line to mythcommflag --rebuild -- I can work around
it, though.

ProjectX is broken for me.  I get a nasty command line error.  And
furthermore there doesn't seem to have been any work done on the project for
about two years, so I've been assuming that it is, how shall I put it,
'deprecated'?

OTOH archiving to DVD works pretty well with only the occasional problem,
providing I remember to move the .ICEauthority file from my home directory.
No idea why -- google for it if you want to see a discussion of other people
with the same problem.

Confused yet?  I am.
