Neither.  Myth will match it automatically if the data in the stream 
sent by the broadcaster/rebroadcaster that sends you the signal is 
sufficient to allow a match.  Most rebroadcasters (cable companies) 
don't provide sufficient information.  In many cases, broadcasters (of 
OTA signals) provide bad/different/"incorrect" data, so it's garbage.

Don't know what documentation you're talking about, but I'm guessing it 
was referring only to analog sources.  (Or, perhaps it was a 
blog/wiki/forum post written by someone whose broadcaster just happens 
to send the right info.)
