[mythtv-users] Need help with playing H.264 videos

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 530, with a 2.2Mhz
core 2 duo. I downloaded the test videos from the mythtv
web page on the HD-PVR (the ones called 13.5.mpg and
10.mpg). I was surprised that my system can't play them.
I expected a 2.2Mhz core 2 duo to be able to do it.
I ran the free cpu-z utility, and found that my system came
with 2G of PC2-5300 RAM. I suspect that is kind of slow.
Would it help if I upgraded to a faster type of RAM? I would
appreciate suggestions about what type of RAM to buy, if
that would help to play H.264 videos.
BTW, my graphics card is an nvidia 7200GS. I have considered
getting a faster card and using VDPAU, but I've heard that VDPAU
isn't quite "there" yet, and I am holding out hoping that nvidia
will come out with just the right card that can handle both VC-1 and
sophisticated deinterlacing.
