Thanks for the replies...
have you tried the -monitoraspect option?
Yes, but with no luck. With the command "mplayer -fs -monitoraspect=16:9
video.avi" I get "Unknown option on the command line: -monitoraspect=16:9"
Has this option been depricated?
Are you sure the video isn't encoded with black bars?
Yes. When I switch from full screen mode to windowed mode there are no
black bars visible in the mplayer window.
What does the output of mplayer say about it?
I don't have the output in front of me (at work), but I do recall it saying
something about "No suitable new res found!"... perhaps because I'm forcing
the resolution with "scale=1366:768"?
The main problem is that said file, and others like it, only fill about 60%
of the screen with horizontal black bars in the other 40%, but when I play
it on my friends 1080p (1920x1080) it only fills about 40% with the black
bars taking up the remaining 60%.
I'll post the mplayer output when I get home. Perhaps someone more
knowledgeable in the area can interpret it. I'm sure other people have this
problem ;)
