The Fedora thing is definitely the first thing that came to my mind when I
saw this topic. I must say, I like this idea. I think it would make a very
nice compliment to the data available in the wiki, especially if it were
interlinked. Bonus points if the wiki could pull info from whatever this DB
is with a special tag and embed popularity info on the wiki page to go along
with the directions and what-not. And, of course, if the DB could then link
to the wiki page.

It'd be really nice if this DB was a combination of what Fedora has with
Smolt (popularity) and what http://www.videohelp.com/capturecards has with
card cabilities.

Anyway, enough rambling from me for now.
