[mythtv-users] Why did you pick MythTV VS the other PVRs?

After using Dish 7200 PVRs for a couple of years, I initially bought a
PVR-350 at a computer show with the intention of building a 'distributed'
system based on M$ MCE. But after looking into how limited it would be (and
how much it would cost for the M$ software), I put the PVR-350 on a shelf.
A few months later I heard about MythTV, and had built a system a month or
two later based on Jarod's famous "MythTV on Fedora" guide. ;-)
With my Dish PVRs, I could record 100hrs each on them (with HDDs updated to
120GB). The interface was pretty good, and the things were reliable. I
could even take the HDD out and extract recordings on my PC for archival
purposes. But they were limited in that recordings on one unit could only
be played back on the same unit, etc.
With MythTV, I could have as much recording space as I could afford, as many
Tuners that I could throw at it, and the resulting recordings could be
played back on any frontend in the house... Much more flexible.
Plus the scheduling was much better... And it could play DVDs and Music,
etc, which my Dish PVRs couldn't do.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture...
