Part of the firstboot stuff you're supposed to do is set a password  
for the mythtv user, very first thing in the web config thingy, iirc...

Um... What? Of course you don't need a set top box for each channel.  
Changing channels is very doable. Or do you mean you want to be able  
to record more than one channel at a time? For channels you can only  
get off your cable box, yes, you do need multiple STB.
