I think his point is quite clear. You seem to be mixing containers
(e.g. avi) with codecs (e.g. xvid and h.264). VDPAU isn't concerned
with containers. Your DVDs will use MPEG2 and so they can be decoded
with VDPAU. Your ripped avi files could be using xvid or h.264. It
just depends on how you did it. If it is xvid or divx then it won't
get decoded with VDPAU but your Atom processor should be able to
decode xvid dvd rips just fine. They don't require a lot of processing
to decode. I believe that even if mythtv has to fall back to the CPU
for the decode of some codecs it can still use VDPAU for
deinterlacing, etc. Somebody more knowledgeable than myself would need
to confirm that though.
