I guess the catch in my design is that my front end systems are front
end-only. I do all of my video recording/processing on the back end
system which can be loud and bulky without impacting the WAF. So, the
front end system has very few requirements:
o Small(ish). Depth/Width no more than 14"
o MicroATX w/ DVI
o Quiet case fan
o Quiet processor fan
Unfortunately, I'm finding that something of that nature is near
impossible to find. I don't need bays for a bunch of hard drives and
cdrom drives which is present in everything out there.
I currently have two shuttle SK21G systems with Nvida AGP 512MB 6200's
and it performs quite well aside from the NFS issues. Unfortunately,
that configuration being AGP, there's no way I can advance any further
with the system. For the short term, I guess I could focus on tackling
the NFS buffering issue in order to increase the WAF. :)
I'd probably go with CentOS for the front end only because of its
similarity with Fedora minus the crazy update schedule. :)
